Doors Open Toronto & Friends of Guild Park host free public tours of Guild Park Sunday May 27, 2018
    (4 tours only)

Come and discover Guild Park "Where Art Meets Nature Meets...Film!

    Theme: Architecture/Design
Terrain: Cobblestone, Construction, Sidewalk, Grass, Uneven, Gravel
Tour Length: 1 hour 30 minutes

Guild Park & Gardens has been a setting for dozens of popular movies, TV programs and music videos. The Doors Open tour highlights film as part of the legacy of today's Guild Park. Visit the places where Drake, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Lillian Gish, Martha & the Muffins, John Candy and many others filmed or stayed. In 2000 the film "Skulls" was filmed here. Guests will see the features that have attracted Hollywood stars as well as notable Canadian artists: the park's unique architectural facades, public art and the surrounding Carolinian forest with striking views over the Scarborough Bluffs. The tour describes how the site, originally used by the First Nations, became home to an Irish immigrant, a family estate for a Canadian soldier, then Canada's only artists community to operate during the Depression. See how it is being revitalized today as a place for nature, the arts, and more.

To register online or join us at the park.  There is always room for more friends.

Guild Park was site of the innovative Guild of All Arts, founded in 1932. The park’s 88 acres includes a Sculpture Garden, featuring works by notable Canadian artists including Sorel Etrog, Emanuel Hahn, Frances Loring, E.B. Cox and Florence Wyle and others.

This outdoor tour highlights those sculptures, as well as architectural remnants saved from dozens of Toronto’s heritage buildings demolished in the 1960s and 1970s.

Please register online in advance at the Heritage Toronto website:     http://heritagetoronto.org/event/guild-park-where-art-meets-nature-2/

Registration is free and tours are open to all.

Heritage Toronto encourages tour participants to make an optional $10 donation for the tour. These funds help Heritage Toronto continue its series of popular tours that explore Toronto's neighbourhoods and past.

Due to the popularity of tours at Guild Park, a second Heritage Toronto Tour will be held on Aug 12, 2018

This walking tour is led by volunteers from Friends of Guild Park & Gardens, with the valuable support of Heritage Toronto.

Friends of Guild Park & Gardens is proud to be part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. Every year, tens of thousands of Canadians take action against shoreline litter by participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, an event jointly led by the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF.
By participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, you can actually see the impact you’ve had over the course of a single day. We invite our members and supporters to help collect debris and garbage from the lakeshore area below Guild Park.

All participants under the age of 18 must attend with a parent/guardian. All participants under the age of 19 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver. Waivers will be available at the starting location.

We meet in the Galloway parking lot at 9 am.

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is one of the largest direct action conservation programs in Canada. A joint conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF, the Shoreline Cleanup is about removing shoreline litter to help create healthy waters for everyone, including the wildlife and communities that depend on them.

Dress for the weather, bring gloves and sturdy footwear.  Bags will be provided.
